One-page summary
A closed or sold company’s records may still be worth something.
AI companies license real business history to help train their systems. A company that has closed or been sold may still have records that qualify for a paid data licensing deal.
Who usually qualifies
- Closed, wound down, or sold and merged into the buyer
- 30 or more employees at its peak
- Years of Slack or Microsoft Teams history
- Based in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Ireland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Singapore or India
- Records mostly in English
How it works
- A free 20-minute call to see if the records are likely to qualify.
- Whoever holds the records applies through my link.
- The buyer reviews. If it wants the data, it makes an offer. The owner decides.
What it costs
Nothing. I’m paid a referral fee by the data buyer, never by the owner or the advisor, and only if the records qualify and a deal is done.
Good to know
- The buyer licenses a copy of the records and explains how personal information is handled before anything is signed.
- After a closure or sale, who holds the rights to the records isn’t always obvious. Check with counsel.
- No amount is promised. Any offer depends on the buyer’s own review.
- Nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice.
